Introduction    Welcome to an exciting study of the Life and Times of William Shakespeare. Since we are going to be reading one of Shakespeare's plays - Romeo and Juliet - it would be helpful to learn some information about this famous playwright's life and the time period in which he lived and wrote. You will take a virtual adventure back to the Sixteenth Century - a very different time than the 21st century - where you will read and take notes on Internet information as you perform research on one of the following topics: 

 

• The Globe Theater
• Women in Elizabethan England
• Superstition in Elizabethan England
• The Authorship Controversy
• Elizabeth I
• Marriage and Family in Elizabethan England
• Elizabethan Theater
• The King's Men
• Fashion and Food in Elizabethan England

 

 

Be sure to connect your topic to Shakespeare and his work. Think about perspective. How may your topic have influenced Shakespeare and his writing? What does your research tell you about Shakespeare's times?

 

Your final paper will include the following:

 

• a minimum of 8 to 10 facts per subtopic. Use at least 3 different Internet sources for your report.
• Trash -n- Treasure notetaking data sheets
• 2 page Internet Research Report (typed, double-spaced, Times New Roman, 12 point font)
• a "Bibliography" or "Works Cited Page" listing at least 3 sources
